Man fined over $2,000 for stealing fan and laptop from his mom

By BBN Staff: A Ladyville man convicted of stealing from his own mother is now in debt to the courts for over $2,000 after he was convicted on two counts of theft.

Adrianne Gordon, 32, appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court yesterday accused of stealing a fan valued at $70 and a laptop valued at $4,000 from his mother’s house.

In court, Gordon, who was unrepresented, pleaded guilty to both theft charges and told the court that both items has been in his possession for years and that he needed to buy some food and so he pawned out the items.

He was fined $500 plus a $5.00 cost of court for the theft of the fan and $2,005 for the laptop. All fines must be paid between August 31, 2022, and October 31, 2022, in default of payments, he will spend 6 months and one year in jail respectively for the charges.
