By Aaron Humes: As a result of recent inundating rains, the National Hydrological Service has put the Rio Hondo, New River, and Sibun River under flood warnings.
The affected areas will include, respectively, Blue Creek North, and downstream at Santa Cruz, San Antonio, San Roman, and Douglas to the coast; Tower Hill and Caledonia, all in Orange Walk District, and nearby tributaries; and in the Belize District, Freetown Sibun, and Hattieville including Hector Creek to the George Price Highway.
There is a flood alert for the eastern slopes of the Maya Mountains, including the Coastal Highway.
At the Crooked Tree Lagoon, the approach to the causeway is flooded but water levels, though increasing, remain under the causeway.
All other areas appear to be stable.
