PSU applauds all public officers on Public Service Day

By Benjamin Flowers: Today, the Public Service Union (PSU) sent special greetings to public officers countrywide on the occasion of Public Service Day.

The PSU saluted members and nonmembers within the public service for the invaluable service that they provide.

Anissa Gonzalez, First Vice President of the PSU, said that this year’s theme “Highlighting Achievement; Embracing Innovation; Inspiring the Future” reflects how the union aspires for its members to conduct themselves in the commission of their duties.

“At all times we want our public officers to understand that they are thrones that run the machinery of government, and to ensure that they run it properly. So on a whole, our public officers play an important role in building Belize in a future sense.” Gonzalez said.

She stressed that highlighting achievement is an important part of what the union does, realizing that there are many public officers who have done exemplary in their careers, but many of them go unrecognized.

Apart from wishing all public officers a Happy Public Service Day, Gonzalez also called them all to action, saying “Continue to do your work diligently, always be engaged in what’s happening in your department, and make sure that the machinery of government is run efficiently and effectively.”

The PSU’s President, Dean Flowers, represented the union at an event this afternoon in Dangriga, where public officers with 25 years of service or more were honored.
