By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Three people including 2 elderly Jesuit priests were killed on Monday inside a church in Chihuahua, northern Mexico, CNN reports. Authorities say they were shot dead inside the church.
The Society of Jesus (SOJ), the religious group known as the Jesuits condemned the killing of the priests.
The SOJ requested that authorities recover the bodies reportedly removed from the scene.
The priests were identified as Javier Campos Morales, 79, and Joaquín César Mora Salazar, 80.
The SOJ has since asked for increased protection for the residents and the authorities have increased operations in the area.
Several news reports indicate that the area has been used and dominated by organized criminals including drug cartels.
