10 newly certified Community Health Workers welcomed in Corozal by Ministry of Health and Wellness

The Ministry of Health & Wellness welcomed 10 new Community Health Workers (CHWs) at a certification ceremony in Corozal on Friday. The new health workers will complement the existing Corozal Community Hospital cadre of CHWs, said the Ministry of Health and Wellness.

“I encourage you to draw upon your training, communicate with your peers, village committees and other health care workers, listen to the little things, that’s where the real story lies,” said Health Minister Kevin Bernard while congratulating them on their certification and encouraging them to serve their communities with pride

According to the MOHW, the certification included 14 intense workshops and practical sessions conducted over the last four months.

The Community Health Workers are already officially serving their respective communities under the District Health Educator at the Corozal Community Hospital/Corozal Polyclinic II in Corozal Town.
