Get tested for HIV/AIDS in any of the towns, cities today Friday

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) is conducting testing for HIV/AIDS in all the towns and cities on Friday as part of Regional Testing Day. Additionally, you can get tested for other diseases like malaria and tuberculosis as well, plus you can have your vitals taken.

The Ministry said they are also administering COVID-19 vaccinations children from 5 to 11 years of age.

The Regional Testing Day against HIV/AIDS has been observed in Belize since 2011. It’s an initiative started in 2007 as Caribbean Regional Testing Day by the Pan Caribbean Partnership Against HIV/AIDS (PANCAP).

“HIV testing began in Dangriga and Punta Gorda [Wednesday] and will continue across the nation [Friday], June 24th,” said the National Aids Commission.

Testing in Benque Viejo del Carmen is being conducted at the Cancha Marshalleck from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm.

Testing in Punta Gorda will be carried out at the Central Park from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday.

Testing will also be conducted at the Cayo Welcome Center in San Ignacio, the Gabriel Hoare Market in Corozal Town, the Orange Walk Central Park, the Old Habet Parking Lot in Dangriga, the Old Market in Belmopan, Battlefield Field Park in Belize City, and at 28 Pescador Drive, in front of the San Carlos Medical Center, in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye.

Taking advantage of the event, several organizations like the National Drug and Abuse Control Council (NDACC), the Police Department, the Department of Youth Services, and GOBelize, will have booths displaying their services.
