The Government of Japan handed over three ambulances plus medical equipment valued at US$875,000 to the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) earlier this week.
“A total of 170 pieces of medical equipment including three ambulances were handed over valued at US$875,612,” said the MOHW.
“On behalf of the Government and the people of Belize, we express gratitude for the unwavering support received today from the Japanese Government and the United Nations Office for Project Services. We thank you,” said Health Minister Kevin Bernard at the handing over ceremony which included representatives from the governments of Japan and Belize and from the implementing agency, the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).
The donation was done through the Project for Enhancing the Healthcare System through the Provision of Medical Equipment which was launched in October 2020 by the Government of Japan, through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
