By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology has launched the ‘𝗟𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗨𝗽’ 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽.
The initiative is being done with the support of partners such as UNICEF, and the International Organization for Migration among others.
The camp is aimed at addressing the impact of the learning loss caused by the closure of schools in Belize during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ministry intends to air remedial literacy and numeracy lessons that lead teachers will teach.
These lessons will be live-streamed using YouTube and MoECST’s National School Portal into the classrooms at Learning Centres in each district, where teachers will be on hand to support students with the actual teaching and learning process.
For 8 weeks, commencing June 27 through to August 19, 2022, Mondays to Thursdays, students will be able to benefit from sessions on literacy.
The students eligible for registration must be between the ages of 5 to 9.
The registration form can be accessed here: bit.ly/moecst-letscatchup
