Newly ordained Roman Catholic priest Fr. Mateo Salam assigned to Belmopan’s Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Newly ordained Roman Catholic priest Father Mateo Salam has been assigned to Belmopan’s Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish.

“It’s in! With praising and thanksgiving I joyfully announce my assignment. Effective August 1, I have been assigned as Associate Pastor at Our Lady of Guadalupe, Belmopan City,” said Fr Mateo on a social media post.

“Pray me as I begin this assignment in the next couple of weeks.”

Fr Mateo was ordained on June 17 at Holy Redeemer Cathedral in Belize City.

“We extend warmest congratulations to our newly ordained Fr. Mateo Salam on his first assignment,” said the Roman Catholic television Guadalupe Media.

Right after being ordained Fr Mateo celebrated a Mass of Thanksgiving at Sacred Heart Church in Dangriga on June 18. The following day, Sunday, June 19, he visited his home village, San Pablo in the Toleldo District, where he celebrated another Mass of Thanksgiving in Q’eqchi.
