Bus driver detained as alleged killer in nightclub bathroom stabbing of a woman in San Ignacio

By Aaron Humes: Police have detained the man they believe stabbed Ima Amanda Landero to death in a women’s bathroom at a nightclub in San Ignacio Town overnight. The suspect Augustine Gonzalez is a 44-year-old bus driver residing in Santa Familia village, Cayo.

The security guard for Legends Night Club on the Bullet Tree Road told officers he encountered a man stabbing a woman with a knife inside the female bathroom after getting reports of blood seeping out.

The guard said he told the man to stop, only for the accused to then try to stab himself in the abdominal area, and attempt to stab the guard himself as he, the guard, tried to subdue him.

Eventually, Gonzalez was subdued and handcuffed, and both Gonzalez and Landero were taken to the hospital where the accused was treated and released to police who continue to detain him. Landero was pronounced dead and awaits a post-mortem examination as part of police investigations.
