Conch season closes Sunday

The Belize Fisheries Department informs that the conch season will close at the end of the day on Sunday, June 26, 2022.

The department reminds the public that all conch fishing activities shall cease from June 26 until the opening of the next fishing season on October 1st, 2022.

In addition, the public including business owners are advised to use and consume all Queen Conch meat in their possession on or before June 26, 2022.

During an interview with News 5 this week, Fisheries administrator, Rigoberto Quintana said that anyone caught with conch during the closed season will face a penalty starting from $100 per piece.
