By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The San Pedro Pirates are playing at home tonight in the first leg of the National Amateur Women’s League semifinals against national champions Jewel Fury at Ambergris Stadium in La Isla Bonita.

The match promises to be very competitive one.

The San Pedro Pirates may have finished in fourth place with 11 points in the regular season compared to the 17 points and top spot by Jewel Fury, but the reality is that the games have been very even among the top four. And tonight, should be no different.

In their first encounter on Saturday, March 26, they played to a 0-0 draw in Belmopan at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium. However, on Saturday, May 21, Jewel Fury blasted the San Pedro-side 3-0 at their own home. Jesselle Conorquie converted the opener in the 4’. Fatima Romero made it 2-0 in the 6’ and Khalydia Velasquez put the icing on the cake in the 45’.

The champs staggered a bit at the beginning but then regained their composure and appear to be quite comfortable in the driver’s seat. But the San Pedro Pirates, hungry for revenge, want to remove them and replace them.

This makes for two great matches starting with tonight’s.

If you’re in San Pedro, make sure to check it out.
