By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Wagiya SC United host Cayo Dreamers in the first leg of National Amateur Women’s League B semifinals on Saturday in Dangriga.
The match is scheduled for 3:00 pm at the Carl Ramos Stadium.
The Cayo Dreamers finished the regular season in second place with 18 points while Wagiya SC United completed the regular season with 12 points.
The Dreamers won both games in which they faced each other.
On Saturday, May 7, in Dangriga, the Cayo-side won 2-1 on goals by Illyn Cruz in the 59’ and Daysi Paiz in the 88’. Tanya Arnold scored for Wagiya’s in the 66’
Then, on Saturday, June 11 in San Ignacio, the Cayo Dreamers won against blanking Wagiya SC United 2-0 on goals by Paiz in the 20’ and Allyshia Bowman in the 23’.
So, going by those games the Cayo Dreamers have the edge, but the reality is that the games were quite competitive and today should be no exception. Wagiya know this is the best opportunity to gain an advantage over their nemesis as the return match will be in Cayo next week.
The Dreamers, for their part, are not leaving things for next week. They are gunning for a win today to make things easier next week.
