Ladyville murder victim identified; previous assault complaint being investigated as motive

By Aaron Humes: Police today identified the victim of a shooting incident early on Saturday morning in the Milpa area of Ladyville, Belize District, as 24-year-old Iwin Palma.

According to Communications Director for the Belize Police Department, Assistant Superintendent Fitzroy Yearwood, Palma was shot by a single gunman around midnight.

Police are looking at several potential angles, including and most prominently a complaint stemming from a fight between Palma and a man who was later charged with aggravated assault. ASP Yearwood said police believe the incidents are “possibly” related but declined to specify the allegations in the previous report.

Investigations continue.
