By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Cayo Central electoral division, known previously as a hard-core UDP constituency, was won by the PUP and newcomer Area representative, Alex Balona.
There were contested elections in Buena Vista, Cristo Rey, and San Antonio.
The other 7 villages saw uncontested PUP slates being endorsed.
Therefore, the PUP won 10 seats for chairpersons and 58 councilor seats in the villages while the UDP won 2 councilor seats.
Notably, in Buena Vista, the PUP managed to win the seat of the chairman and 4 councilor seats, with the UDP garnered 2 seats in the village council.
