4 dead, hundreds injured after stadium collapses during a bullfight in Colombia

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Four people were killed and hundreds injured after a stadium collapsed during a bullfight in El Spinal, Colombia, CNN reports.

Officials say that 4 people died and 30 more are seriously injured.

The Mayor, Juan Carlos Tamayo confirmed the incident and called on citizens to evacuate the area.

“We deeply regret what happened in our bullfight arena,” Tamayo said in the statement. “I want to ask all the citizens who are in the area to please evacuate, authorities are already responding to the emergency and the injured have been taken to hospitals. Please, let’s evacuate, together let’s help the emergency services, so they can do their job.”

In addition, local hospitals saw 322 patients that were injured by the stadium collapse.

Videos of the incident on social media showed people running and screaming.

Authorities are still investigating how the stadium collapsed.
