By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize Defence Force Captain Andre Ayuso successfully completed the seven-week International Flight Safety Officer Course (IFSO) at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico in the United States.
The BDF congratulated Captain Ayuso for his stellar performance.
According to the BDF, Captain Ayuso was awarded the most “distinguished graduate” for obtaining “the highest academic scores in the class, as well as having a positive and productive attitude throughout the duration of the course”.
“The IFSO course was designed to provide allied flight officers from around the world with a working knowledge of mishap prevention and investigation techniques,” said the BDF in a social media release.
According to the release the IFSO course had the participation of military students from 10 different countries.
“This 7-week course consists of intensive studies in areas of aviation such as safety program management, human factors, aircraft material factors, mishap prevention, and aircraft mishap investigation,” said the BDF.
“The course provided education and training to conduct effective prevention programs as well as the skills necessary for mishap investigations and intensive studies, such as program management, human factors, aircraft material factors, mishap investigation.”
At present the BDF also has six Airwing soldiers doing two- and four-year training programs in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
