PUP claims all village council seats in the Orange Walk South Constituency

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The People’s United Party (PUP) and Orange Walk South Area Representative, Jose Abelardo Mai have claimed all Chairpersons and councilor seats in the Orange Walk South Constituency.

According to Minister Mai, 2019 was the first time in 20 years that the PUP managed to take back the village council in Guinea Grass Village.

Notably, there were no seats won by any UDP or independent candidates in Orange Walk South.

Minister Mai congratulated all Chairpersons and their teams in the 9 villages:

Yo Creek – Abel Sosa and his team

San Lázaro- Miguel Ángel Cabañas and his team

 Trinidad- Luis Tun and his team

August Pine Ridge- Fred Reneau and his team

San Felipe- Eber Delgado and his team

 Indian Church- Luis Gonzalez and his team

San Carlos- Erin Hernández and his team

 Guinea Grass- Benito Uk and his team

Fire burn- Agapito Patt and his team

There are over 180 village councils in Belize and village councils consist of a chairperson and six councilors.

Village council elections ended on Sunday, June 26th, 2022.
