By Aaron Humes: The Bar Association of Belize says it is pleased to back the selection of Louise Esther Eugenie Blenman, Justice of Appeal, as Chief Justice of Belize, on the advice of the Prime Minister to the Governor-General.
The Association’s statement issued this morning confirms that it was “a part of the interview panel which reviewed the applications of all 8 applicants and provided its view and recommendation to the Office of the Prime Minister. The Association is therefore satisfied with the transparency of the process utilized…”
The prospective new Chief Justice is, as described by the Association, “a seasoned Caribbean jurist with over 33 years in the legal profession in the region including 10 years as a Justice of Appeal on the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court making her a suitable candidate to become the Chief Justice of Belize.”
It is not known when Justice Blenman will be officially appointed and take office.
