South Korea promises support for Belize at Oceans Conference

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: South Korea has promised support for Belize, said the Ministry of Economic Development (MED).

The announcement came after a Belize delegation met with South Korean officials on the margins of the United Nations Oceans Conference in Lisbon, Portugal on Wednesday.

MED said the productive discussion centered on climate change, climate finance, science and technology, renewable energy, and knowledge transfer.

“South Korea committed to support with scholarships, technology, and low-cost financing through the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI),” said MED.

The Belize delegation that met with the South Koreans was led by Cabinet Secretary Stuart Leslie and included CEO Narda Garcia, CEO Osmond Martinez, and Beverly Wade, Director of the Blue Bond Unit.
