15 Cayo farmers trained in Nursery Management, Vegetable Seedling Production by Cayo District Extension Officers

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Fifteen Cayo farmers, including women, in the village of Agua Viva on Thursday received training in Nursery Management and Vegetable Seedling Production. The training was conducted by Cayo District Extension Officers from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE).

According to MAFSE, Agua Viva is near the Springfield Mennonite Community in the general vicinity of Belmopan.

Six topics were covered in the one-day training session, namely:

1. Protected Nursery vs. Open Field Nursery

2. Type of Substrates for Seedling Production

3. Fertilization Program for Seedling Production

4. Pest & Disease Management in The Nursery

5. Irrigation of Plants in The Nursery

6. Types of Seedling Trays for Vegetable Crops
