Posted: Thursday, June 30, 2022. 9:36 am CST.

By BBN Staff: A 23-year-old Belize City resident has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison over a shooting that occurred in the Belama Phase 5 area back in March.

Clifton Robinson appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, charged with one count of attempted murder and one count of wounding upon Albert Reid.

Magistrate Khiana Gordon explained to Robinson that his matters are to be tried at the Supreme Court, as such, no plea would be taken from and he could not receive bail at the Magistrate level.

Robinson was remanded to prison until August 24, 2022.

The incident occurred on March 10. Reid told police he was walking home when he saw Robinson and another man running towards him. Reid tried to escape from the men when he claimed that Robinson pulled a sawed shotgun from his pants and opened fire. He was hit in several places and later taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Robinson was not arrested for the incident until June 29.
