Man believed to be the shooter in the Benjamin Hyde Sr. murder case remanded to prison

By BBN Staff: Authorities believe they have found the man responsible for the shooting death of 49-year-old Benjamin Hyde Sr. which occurred earlier this month.

Today, 21-year-old, Damion Edward Saldano appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

No plea was taken from him and he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until August 24.

Saldano joins 23-year-old Shemaud Roshaud Nunez, and 18-year-old, Azzane Kaylon Domingo, who were charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

The trio will all appear together in court in August.

On Sunday, June 19, 2022, around 2:58 pm Benjamin Hyde Sr., was riding his bicycle on King Street from the direction of East Canal heading towards Albert Street when someone fired several shots, killing him on the spot.
