By Aaron Humes: PPF Capital Belize Limited, a consultancy firm, has been selected as consultants to move the next phase of implementing a national five-dollar minimum wage.
PPF Capital was selected from four applicants in a Call for Proposals issued by the Minimum Wage Task Force created earlier this year by the Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour, and Local Government.
PPF and the Task Force are now preparing to host countrywide consultations with key stakeholders and the public before submitting a plan for the intended implementation.
The gradual implementation of the five-dollar minimum wage was a commitment of the current Government’s Plan Belize. The change will be implemented through a Statutory Instrument.
