National Champions Jewel Fury looking to bounce back against San Pedro Pirates in NAWL A semifinal #2

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The National Amateur Women’s League Champions Jewel Fury were shocked 2-1 last week in the first semifinal by the San Pedro Pirates at Ambergris Stadium. Now they are looking to bounce back on Saturday in semifinal #2 of the NAWL A at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan.

It’s not going to be easy as the San Pedro Pirates, also known as the Blue Tsunami, are a committed and driven team that is intent on flooding Belmopan today.

“We taking over Belmopan this Saturday at 4:30 PM,” said the Blue Tsunami on their social media age.

But Jewel Fury are not intimidated.

“This isn’t over yet … we’ll fight until the last whistle blows for our home game,” they said after last week’s 2-1 loss.

In semifinal #1, Elva Núñez hit the opener for San Pedro in the 40’ but the NAWL A top scorer Khalydia Velasquez leveled the action in the 49’. However, Tamara Baptist gave the San Pedro Pirates an agonizing win with her 89th minute goal.

Now, 90 more pulsating minutes of football are left to be played.

Will Jewel Fury reach the finals again or will we have a new champion this season?
