Atlético FC, Hopkins Ibayani, Libertadores, Bambas, Verdes Jrs, Atlético to 2nd round in National Bank of Belize Amateur Interdistrict Competition

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Five teams – Atlético FC, Hopkins Ibayani, Libertadores, Bambas, and Verdes Jrs – have qualified to the second round of the knockout National Bank of Belize Amateur Interdistrict Competition after winning the playoffs over their opponents on Saturday.

Belmopan’s Atlético FC who rolled over Toledo’s Silver Creek FC beating them 6-0 at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan on Saturday night. Coupled with their 4-1 victory the previous week, Atlético qualified on a 10-1 aggregate.
Hopkins Ibayani qualified after beating Santa Elena Royal United 2-0 at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga. Last week Hokpins won 2-1, so they made it to the second round on a 4-1 aggregate.

Corozal’s Libertadores qualified on a 7-6 aggregate over Bella Vista. The Southern side drew 3-3 with Libertadores on Saturday at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence but Libertadores had posted a 4-3 win in Corozal last week.
Independence side Bambas had to go to penalty kicks after their 0-0 draw against Benque Viejo del Carmen’s Zboys Football Club. The previous week both had played to a 1-1 stalemate. Their 1-1 aggregate after 180 minutes forced them into extra time at the Michael Ashcroft on Saturday. Since they still didn’t score after the extra 30 minutes, the series had to be decided in penalty kicks which saw Bambas prevail 4-2.
For their part, the other Benque club, Verdes Juniors dropped Belmopan’s Galacticos 3-1 at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo del Carmen on Saturday. The previous weekend they drew 3-3 at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan, so Verdes Juniors qualified on 6-1 aggregate.
