Forecasters: Tropical Storm Bonnie is taking a weird track

Posted: Sunday, July 3, 2022. 7:54 am CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: This new tropical storm in the Atlantic will take a weird track.

Tropical Storm Bonnie is the second named storm of the 2022 Atlantic Hurricane Season and forecasters say that Bonnie is taking a “weird” and unusual track.

On Friday, Tropical Storm Bonnie made landfall on the east coast of Nicaragua near the Costa Rican border producing heavy rainfall across portions of the 2 countries. This heavy rainfall could lead to life-threatening flash floods.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) noted that after making landfall near the Nicaragua-Costa Rica border, Tropical Storm Bonnie emerged over the eastern Pacific Ocean on an unusual track.

Even after crossing into the Pacific, the storm keeps its name Bonnie, as it continues moving up the western coast of Mexico.

In addition, Bonnie could strengthen into a hurricane today or tomorrow. Those near the areas of interest are advised to remain alert and prepared.
