Allan “AK” Kelly remanded to prison on firearms charges

By BBN Staff: Belize City businessman Allan Kelly, also known as “AK,” was remanded to the Belize Central Prison today over a number of firearms offenses.

Kelly appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today, represented by attorney Godwin Haylock charged with one count of discharging a firearm in public and one count of aggravated assault with a firearm upon Truck Driver, 23-year-old, Samuel Lawson.

He was denied bail and was remanded to jail until August 25, though he will later have the option to apply for bail through the Supreme Court.

Kelly is accused of firing shots above the head of Lawson, during an altercation on Sunday, July 3, in front of the home of a woman that was once Kelly’s common law wife.
