Pope Francis dismisses rumors of his resignation; reiterates condemnation of abortion

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Pope Francis has dismissed rumors and reports that he may soon resign, CNN reports.

The Pope says that he is on track with plans to visit Canada this month and hopes to visit Moscow in Russa and Kyiv, Ukraine very soon.

During an exclusive interview with Reuters, the Pope gave details of his knee condition which has prevented him from effectively carrying out some of his duties.

During the interview, the Pontiff repeated his condemnation of abortion following the decision made by the U.S. Supreme court.

The Pontiff said that it (resignation) never crossed his mind. However, he reiterated his position that if failing health made it impossible to run the church, he would consider it but noted that “God will say”.

With relation to his knee injury, the Pope noted that doctors recommended to have 20 more days of therapy and rest for his right knee.
