By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Sunday, Mexican officials managed to disperse a migrant caravan that began marching toward the U.S. border on Friday, LatinPost reports.
The officials reportedly issued temporary residence permits to about 3,000 people, mostly Venezuelans and Central Americans.
The permit would allow them to stay in Mexico for up to 30 days.
The permits were issued to them in Huixtla, Mexico, 28 miles from where the caravan march began.
The caravan began their journey on Friday from Tapachula, near Mexico’s border with Guatemala.
In addition, reports say that in the last month, 3 large groups of migrants totaling 13,000 attempted to leave the border with Guatemala on foot but 2 of those groups were disbanded.
