Government of Belize says it’s shocked by the assassination of Shinzo Abe, former Prime Minister of Japan; expresses condolences

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Government of Belize said it’s shocked at the assassination of Shinzo Abe, former Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe, and has expressed condolences to his family.

“The Government and people of Belize are shocked and saddened by the assassination of Shinzo Abe, former Prime Minister of Japan. He made invaluable contributions to Belize-Japan relations,” tweeted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.

“Our thoughts are with his bereaved family. We stand in solidarity with the people of Japan.”

Abe was gunned down in the city of Nara in Japan while delivering a campaign speech earlier on Friday.

Japanese authorities arrested the man who shot him.
