By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The San Ignacio and Santa Elena Town Council employee Herman ‘Kaibil’ Valdez who died after being knocked down by a car downtown San Ignacio on Monday is being buried today, Saturday, in San Ignacio.
News reports from Cayo say the funeral services for Valdez will be celebrated at Faith Nazarene Church in San Ignacio at 2:00 pm. The burial will be at the Santa Rita Cemetery.
‘Kaibil’, as he was popularly called, was discharging his regular cleanup duties in the downtown area of San Ignacio on Monday morning. He was pushing his wheelbarrow, when he was knocked down by a dark blue SUV which lost control as it was descending the hill. Kaibil was taken to the San Ignacio Community Hospital where he reportedly died while being treated for his injuries.
