By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belmopan’s Atlético and Griga Conquerors blew out the competition in the Round of 1`6 and qualified to the Quarterfinals in NBB-Interdistrict Amateur Competition (NBB-IAC).
On Saturday, in Match A, Atlético FC rolled over Santa Elena Royal United 6-0 at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan while the Griga Conquerors thrashed Benque Verdes Jrs 8-3 in Match F at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo del Carmen.
In Match B, Progresso FC beat the Belmopan’s Galacticos 2-0 at the Louisiana Football Field.
In Match D, Conquerors banked Belize City’s Lake I FC 2-0 at the Ambergris Stadium in San Pedro.
In Match G, Libertad FC tripled up on Kelly Street Bombers 3-1 at the Santiago Ricalde Stadium in Corozal Town.
So, Belmopan’s Atletico, Orange Walk’s Progresso, San Pedro’s Conquerors, Stann Creek’s Griga Conquerors, and Corozal’s Libertad FC have qualified to the Quarterfinals which will be played next week.
Three other teams qualify after Sunday’s games.
In Match C, Caribbean Rum Boyz battle Benque Viejo del Carmen’s Zboys at 4:30 pm at the Louisiana Football Field.
In Match E, Hopkins Ibayani measure up against Bella Vista FC at 4:30 pm at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga.
In Match H, Mavericks host Bambas from Independence at 3:00 pm at the Victor Sanchez Stadium in Punta Gorda.
Next week, the winners of the A, B, C, and D games will play at home against the H, G, F, and E winners respectively.
That means Atletico will play at home against Toledo’s Mavericks or Independence’s Bambas in Belmopan, Progresso will play Libertad in Orange Walk, Caribbean Rum Boyz or Benque’s Zboys will match up against Griga Conquerors in Orange Walk or Benque, and the San Pedro Conquerors will host Hopkins Ibayani or Bella Vista FC.
