By BBN Staff: This weekend, police arrested and charged 23-year-old Belize Coast Guard Officer Shakeem Richards in connection with the robbery at the Puma gas station at the junction of Fabers Road and the George Price Highway.
Richards was officially charged with robbery on Saturday.
The incident occurred on Thursday, July 7, around 8:00 p.m. Three armed men robbed an undisclosed amount of cash from a pump attendant and then made off in the direction of Lacroix Boulevard in an SUV.
Police later found the getaway vehicle and discovered the money stashed at a mechanic shop, not far from where the vehicle was found. Two men were subsequently detained in connection with the robbery.
Thus far, Richards is the only one to be charged in connection with the incident.
