BREAKING: Young man drowns in the Belize River in Blackman Eddy

By BBN Staff: A young man drowned earlier this afternoon in the Belize River in Blackman Eddy Village, Cayo.

Reports are that shortly after lunch the victim went to swim in the river along with some relatives. The young man, a resident of the Orange Walk district, reportedly jumped into a relatively deep area of the river and was unable to swim to safety. He surfaced a few times before eventually going under.

A search for the victim’s body was immediately launched.

Breaking Belize News (BBN) has confirmed that the body has been found.
