By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Minister of Health & Wellness Kevin Bernard on Saturday delivered the inaugural address at the launch of the Caribbean Association of Medical Technologists (CASMET) Belize branch at the Best Western Plus Belize Biltmore Plaza.
During the launch, 41 medical laboratory professionals, also referred to as medical technologists, from the Association of Clinical Laboratory Science of Belize (ACLSB) received their certification as members of CASMET Belize, said the ACSLB.
“The Minister was very honored to be invited to this very important occasion,” said the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW)
Minister Bernard congratulated the Belize branch members and the President of CASMET pledging to continue working with them to improve the profession and the work they do.
“Congratulations to the Association of Clinical Laboratory of Belize, the forty three Medical Technologists and other members of the CASMET Belize branch,” said the MOHW.
After becoming accepted by CASMET, the previous weekend the ACLSB attended its first CASMET Regional Council Meeting.
“This was a huge step for our Medical professionals of Belize being that now with 41 registered MTs, Belize is officially a registered Branch of CASMET and by extension an affiliate of the AMT (American Medical Technologists),” said the ACLSB.
“This effort will now lead us to AMT certification which will soon be available in our country. It is the hope of the ACSLB to portray the value and importance of the Medical Laboratory profession in Belize’s healthcare sector.”
The ACLSB congratulated “our first 41 Laboratory professionals who have met the requirements and now have the privileges of MTs in the Caribbean, recognized by CASMET”.
