By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Air quality in the Eastern and Southern Caribbean has dropped to moderate due to a puff of Saharan dust that is affecting air quality, Loop reports.

Meteorologists in Montserrat and Antigua and Barbuda said air quality is expected to be moderate until Wednesday. Dust particulate matters will range from 2.5 to 10.

“The threat of health problems is forecast to be elevated, for mainly unusually sensitive people, such as asthmatics, and could potentially cause them limited health impacts,” the Disaster Management Coordination Agency (DMCA) said.

The agency advised that children and adults, and, people with respiratory diseases should avoid prolonged exposure to the outdoors.
