12-year-old girl accosted and raped in an abandoned building in Belmopan

By BBN Staff: A twelve year old girl was reportedly raped in Belmopan earlier this week.

According to Police, the minor and her guardian visited the Police Station on Wednesday evening around 5:00 pm and reported that she was raped on Tuesday. The 12-year-old victim claimed that she was walking home from a family’s residence in Maya Mopan when she was accosted and taken to a nearby abandoned building by two (2) male persons.

In the abandoned building one of the men raped her while the other stood guard at the doorway.

Police are investigating this heinous crime.
