37-year-old man dies at KHMH after suffering a seizure in jail cell

By BBN Staff: A Belize City man died while being treated at the KHMH for a seizure he suffered while he was detained.

The victim, 37-year-old Jason Whylie, was detained by Belize City Police on Sunday and was being investigated for burglary. On Monday, he was issued with a charge sheet for burglary, and shortly after he suffered a seizure in his jail cell.

Police transported Whylie to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) where he was being treated under police guard.

However, on Wednesday Whylie died at the KHHM.
