Biscayne man granted bail on handling stolen goods charge

Posted: Friday, July 15, 2022. 3:02 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: A 48-year-old Biscayne resident, Albert Rowland, was granted bail following a charge of handling stolen goods, which he claimed no knowledge of.

Rowland appeared unrepresented in Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford to answer to a single charge of handling stolen goods. According to police, Rowland dishonestly assisted in the retention of a number of items including a skill saw valued at $2,500; a table stove; 30 sacks of seeds, and a measuring tape totaling some $1,750.

Rowland originally intended to plead guilty so as not to waste the court’s time but upon further questioning, Magistrate Ford entered a not guilty plea on his behalf after he explained he had no knowledge the items were stolen.

With that, he was granted bail in the sum of $1,000 plus a surety of the same amount. He is due back in court in September.
