BREAKING: Team Belize defeats Honduras in U-21 volleyball, plays for gold Saturday against Guatemala

By Aaron Humes: The Belize U-21 female volleyball team stands on the brink of gold after coming through a hard-fought three-set victory, 25-16, 25-17, 25-16.

Honduras’ crafty side made the girls earn every point and a late injury to star player Gareth Bruce threatened to end Belize’s streak of sets won.

But substitute Marci Mejia settled the nerves and a series of aces in the final championship points sealed a third straight victory on home court.

Now it is only Guatemala that stands in the way of championship glory, and they will be no pushovers in the decider tomorrow night at 7:30 after Honduras plays Nicaragua in the opener.
