By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Thursday, July 14, 2022, Taiwan Ambassador to Belize, David Kuan-Chou Chien and Minister of Public Utilities, Energy, Logistics and E-Governance, Michel Chebat signed the implementing arrangement of the “Digital Inclusion Program.”
The focus is to initially launch a new Information and Communications Technology (ICT) project under the cooperation between the Governments of Taiwan and Belize.
The purpose of the program is to address the issue of the digital gap of rural communities and the barriers that impede people to access opportunities in the digital age.
The Digital Inclusion Program, operated by Taiwan ICDF will help build digital labs, conduct computer courses, and renovate the portal site of the Government of Belize to provide the people with easier access to service
“As a trustworthy ally of Belize, Taiwan is willing to share its successful experience in the ICT industry with the Belizean Government and people to build a better digital Belize. We sincerely hope the “Digital Inclusion Program” can be another stepping stone to pave the way for strengthening the future ICT cooperation that will benefit our two peoples,” the Taiwan Embassy in Belize said.
