Competition heating up as playoffs for the Sprite “Live Life” Youth Basketball Tournament 2022, approach

By Benjamin Flowers: The Belize Police Department wrapped up week 10 of the Sprite “Live Life” Youth Basketball Tournament 2022, and the competition is getting stiffer as the playoffs draw near.

Six games, between 15 competing teams were played on Saturday, at the Mexico Sports Center across from the Marion Jones Sporting Complex. The Belize Police Department’s Public Relations Department noted that the games were “strongly contested,” as teams begin to fight for spots in the playoffs, which will be in six weeks’ time.

“For these past ten weeks of this Sprite “Live Life” Youth Basketball Tournament 2022, 15 teams from Belize District, over 140+ young males, ages 19 years & above, have decided to choose to shoot basketballs & compete against each other and not shoot guns at each other, but most importantly, they choose to “LIVE LIFE” positively,” the Department said.

The results for the games are as follows: Game #1 – Complex Titans 45 pts. vs. Heights Camp 27 pts., Game #2 – Hattieville Underdogs 49 pts. vs. Unruly Boyz 42 pts., Game #3 – Team Police 36 pts., vs. Ebony Lake 27 pts., Game #4 – Mayflower 35 pts. vs. Pink’s Alley 34 pts., Game #5 – Dan One 32 pts. vs. Freetown Hitters 27 points & Game #6 – Kraal Road 46 pts., vs. Ladyville Big Dreams 37 pts.

The next games are scheduled for July 23, at the Lopez Mateo Basketball Court in Kings Park community of Belize City, beginning at 8:30 a.m. There are 12 games scheduled for that day.
