By Benjamin Flowers: On Sunday, Galen University held it’s 19th graduation ceremony during which the institution awarded 155 students with various degrees, ranging from Associates to Masters. The ceremony was held at St. Catherine’s Academy Mercy Center in Belize City and was attended by students, board, faculty and staff of Galen University, families of the graduates and special invited guests.
The ceremony featured remarks by the Chairman of the University’s Board of Directors, Rene Villanueva Sr., and the University’s Provost, Dr. Cynthia Eve Aird. In her remarks Provost Aird announced that, on August 1, 2022, the University will initiate a one-year long count down to its 20th Anniversary.
The Keynote address was delivered by Minister of Health and Wellness Kevin Bernard.
There were also two student speakers, Jafet Dueck who earned the highest MBA cumulative grade point average in the graduate program and Indira Spain who earned the highest cumulative grade point average among the undergraduate degrees.
The Galen “Eagle graduates” also received special messages of congratulations from Sylvia Cattouse Ed.D., Dean of the Faculty of Business and Entrepreneurship; Sherry Gibbs M.A., Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Science and Technology; and Dorian Barrow Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Education, as well as his Excellency Sir Colville Young, who asked the provost to convey his congratulatory message on his behalf.
