200 children attend San Ignacio & Santa Elena Association (SSBA) annual basketball camp

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Approximately 200 children had fun attending the one-week San Ignacio & Santa Elena Association (SSBA) annual basketball camp last week at the Victor Galvez Stadium and the Santa Elena Sporting Complex.

The SSBA said the camp was held in collaboration with the San Ignacio & Santa Elena Town Council and the Cayo Sports Council, who assisted with sponsorship, venue, coordinators, and logistics.

“We had approximately 200 campers, between the ages of 4 – 18 years old, who participated in this year’s camp,” said the SSBA.

The SSBA said that as a follow-up to the one-week summer camp, at the end of August the SSBA will be hosting a tournament for those who participated in the camp.

“All players for the tournament will be placed on a team and they will be provided with a jersey shirt,” said the SSBA.

The San Ignacio & Santa Elena Association (SSBA) said it was very appreciative of the organizations, businesses, and individuals who assisted with this year’s basketball summer camp.

“All sponsorship was used to offset the expenses for the camp and to purchase jerseys for all participants for the upcoming basketball tournament and to cover the expenses for the tournament,” said the SSBA.
