By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has issued advisories on Hurricane Estelle located just south of Socorro Island on Mexico’s West Coast.
As of this morning, Hurricane Estelle, a category 1 storm was moving toward the west-northwest near 14 mph (22 km/h).
Maximum sustained winds are near 80 mph with higher gusts.
NHC notes that slight strengthening is possible during the next day or so, but weakening is expected to begin around the middle of the week.
Swells generated by Estelle are affecting portions of the coast of southwestern Mexico, west-central Mexico, and the southern Baja California peninsula.
No coastal watches or warnings are in effect.
