Police officer charged with wounding his wife out on bail

By BBN Staff: A police officer accused of beating up his wife was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

Corporal Edgar Poot, 43, appeared before the court to answer to a single count of harm.

In court, Poot, who was named officer of the month July 2020, pleaded not guilty and since there was no objection to bail, he was granted bail in the sum of $1,000 plus one surety of the same amount which he met.

Allegations are that on Monday July 18, 2022 in Belize City, Corporal Poot caused a wound to his wife during a domestic dispute.

Poot, who is expected to be placed on interdiction after today’s criminal charges, is due back in court on August 11, 2022.
