By BBN Staff: Belize City resident, 21-year-old Kenyon Flores has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison after being charged with discharging a firearm in public.
In court, he pleaded not guilty to the charge, but due to the seriousness of the offense, he was denied bail in the first instance.
He is scheduled to return to court on September 9.
Allegations are that, on Sunday, July 15, he fired the weapon on Vernon Street. Police say that around 5:30 a.m. they responded to a call of shots fired on Vernon Street, and proceeded to the area where they saw Flores and two others fleeing the scene.
Police detained the group and conducted a search in the area they were fleeing from and found a pistol.
Reports are that additional charges are expected to be filed in connection with the incident.
