National Hurricane Center Monitoring 3 Tropical Waves in the Atlantic

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is monitoring 3 tropical waves in the Atlantic.

The NHC notes that at this time, no tropical cyclone activity is in the immediate forecast.

A tropical wave in the eastern Atlantic is located northwest of Cape Verde and is moving to the west at 17 mph.

Another tropical wave is located east of the British Virgin Islands and is moving to the west at 15 mph.

The third tropical wave is located in the Caribbean and extends from the Cayman Islands to Panama. It’s moving to the west at 11 mph.

Forecasters say that the peak of the hurricane season is September 10, with most activity occurring between mid-August and mid-October.

The next named storm in the Atlantic basin will be Danielle.
