NBB National Amateur Interdistrict Football semifinals set for the weekend

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Atlético will play against the San Pedro Conquerors on Saturday at 7:00 pm at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in the first semifinal of the NBB National Amateur Interdistrict Competition organized by the Football Federation of Belize (FFB).

The second semifinal set for Sunday at 4:30 pm will feature Progresso against the Griga Conquerors at the Louisiana Football Field in Orange Walk.

Last weekend, Atlético defeated the Toledo Mavericks 2-0 in a penalty kicks shootout after a 1-1 draw at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium. Wilfredo Galvez hit the opener in the 61’ while Jaren Lambey equalized for Mavericks in the 79’.

Conquerors downed Hopkins Ibayani 1-0 at Ambergris Stadium in San Pedro on a goal by Jose Aquino in the 57’.

Progresso also edged Corozal’s Libertadores 1-0 on a strike by Jaheim Augustine in the 11’ at the Louisiana Football Field.

For their part, the Griga Conquerors beat the Orange Walk Caribbean Rum Boyz 2-0 in a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw in overtime at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga. The Griga Conquerors went ahead 2-0 on a goal by Wayne Ford in the 37’ and a Marvin Flowers’ own goal in the 47’. However, they wasted the lead as the Caribbean Rum Boyz levelled the match on conversions by Rodolfo Argueta in the 54’ and Enrique Valdez in the 65’.

Like in the quarterfinals, the semifinals may need to go to overtime or penalty kicks if necessary.
